An all-metal (AL) body construction with the original MONOCOQUE (MQ) body concept from DAIWA supports a machine-cut TOUGH DIGEAR of G1 Duralumin to provide unparalleled cranking power and added strength to the drive gear.

Designed to allow anglers to control fish in all conditions, with enough power against any large predator the angler may encounter.

Fitted with a new aluminium AIRDRIVE ROTOR providing rotation with low inertia and extra strength, the reel is equipped with the latest advanced technology and specification.

Stiff one-piece body

With the support of the MONOCOQUE (MQ) all-metal body concept, the 23 SALTIGA 4000/5000/6000 has gained additional strength and pulling power compared to other models in similar sizes.

With the introduction of the MONOCOQUE (MQ) design, the internal body space has been increased, allowing larger drive gears to be installed. The MQ design also allows the motor plate to replace the need for screws to stabilise the drive gear. The MQ concept improves the support of internal parts and adds durability and resilience.

The new gearbox design combined with G1 Duraluminium material creates the pinnacle of gearbox strength and precision. With increased strength of up to 130% to support the reel in the toughest conditions.

This gear design reduces the amount of wear, including twisting and deformation of both the drive gear and pinion gear. This gear design, combined with the MQ body, creates the pinnacle of performance among saltwater fishing reels.

Preserved performance.

MAGSEALED is a technology that uses a special liquid material originally developed for aerospace engineering called MAGOIL. MAGOIL is used to create a water- and dust-resistant barrier in place of traditional rubber seals.

It is an innovative method of waterproofing that maintains rotational performance. MAGSEAL's main aim was to protect the gears inside the reel body and the bearings. Two key components that must be protected if overall performance is to be maintained.

Frictionless rotation.

The MAGSEALED bearings are designed to last longer than traditionally sealed ball bearings. The balls are enclosed in a fully waterproof housing. The inner and outer rings are magnetised and bonded with waterproof and stable MAGSEALED oil.

This means that the initial performance of the reel will be maintained indefinitely. The longevity is unmatched by a waterproof industrial bearing.

23 SALTIGA 4000/5000/6000 is equipped with MAGSEALED bearings on both sides of the drive gear.

Turn effortlessly.

AIRDRIVE ROTOR gives control back to the angler, allowing the reel to work exactly as intended by reducing the inertia required to start and stop the winding rotation. By giving the AIRDRIVE ROTOR a sense of easy winding, it allows the angler to react quickly and instantly to bites, especially on slack line.

By reducing the weight of the rotor and changing the shape of the design, the rotation of the reel has been improved. Less inertia gives better control with reduced effort required by the angler.

Precise line flow.

DAIWA has also redesigned the bail release mechanism to provide a precise opening and closing movement, giving the angler a better feel when in use.

AIRDRIVE SHAFT

Low-friction.

AIRDRIVE SHAFT has a non-contact structure between the main shaft and the pinion gear.

In addition, both ends of the pinion gear are now supported by bearings to transfer crank power from the handle to the rotor with greater efficiency. By adding high quality flanges to the main shaft, rotational noise has been significantly reduced.

AIRDRIVE SHAFT gives a feeling of smooth, quiet rotation and provides anglers with increased torque and power.
